About Raising Roofs: The Programme

The programme has been designed to give you knowledge and experience of what it is like to be a member of the board. You will learn from leading experts from housing and other sectors, work alongside your peers from other organisations and go out to observe board meetings. Our third programme will commence on Wednesday 30th October 2019. See Key Programme Information, for details.

The next Raising Roofs programme will commence on Wednesday 30th October 2019.  Some venues are provisional and will be confirmed shortly.

  • Day 3: Finance and development – *Date: Wednesday 4th December 2019  Venue: Outside London
  • Day 4: Getting the message right – *Date: Wednesday 22nd January 2020  Venue: Outside London
  • Day 5: Growth, opportunities and managing risk – *Date: Wednesday 26th February 2020  Venue: Outside London
  • Day 6: The Future is Now! – how to get on to a board – *Date: Wednesday 25th March 2020  Venue: London

The programme will start each day at 9.30 and close at 17.30.

Day 6 of the programme

Your chief executive or a senior executive of your organisation will be invited to group presentations followed by lunch on the final day of the programme, and you will have time to have a 1-2-1 conversation about your career, next steps and potential opportunities.

Travel and accommodation arrangements

Participants and their organisations are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements. These expenses are not included in the programme fee.

Payment arrangements

At the end of your application please include contact details for the authorising person or person in Finance/Accounts Payable to whom the programme fee invoice should be sent.

Please note: Your place on the Raising Roofs programme cannot be guaranteed until the programme fee has been paid in full.

Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions of participation

The maximum number of participants from any organisation is two.

There will be a maximum of 18 participants on the programme

Programme fee (costs stated are before adding VAT)

  • Cost per participant: £3,950 per participant (£7,600 for two participants)
  • “Early bird” cost: £3,500 per participant (£6,750 for two participants)

(Early bird discount is subject to payment being received in full by 31st July 2019)

MBTI personal assessments (optional)

  • Individual assessment with two follow-up coaching sessions
  • Cost per participant: £250


A number of bursaries are available of £1,000 – £1,500 per participant

Participants should indicate at the time of making their application that they also wish to be considered for a bursary towards the programme fee.  Please complete the space in the application form to explain why you are applying for a bursary.  Preference will be given to participants from small organisations and/or those who are working in challenging situations.

Cancellation Policy

  • Between 61 and 90 days before the programme starts: 10% of the fee will be charged.
  • Between 31 and 60 days before the programme starts : 25% of the fee will be charged.
  • Up to 30 days before the programme starts: 100% of the fee will be charged.

Cancellation in exceptional circumstances will be taken into consideration.

  • In extreme circumstances that the programme organisers are required to cancel the programme, all fees paid will be refunded in full.

Variations to the programme

The programme organisers may vary the content and delivery of the programme as advertised at their discretion.  No refunds will be payable in this case.

Selection Policy

Participation in the programme will be decided at the sole discretion of the programme organisers.

In the event that the programme is over-subscribed, applicants will be notified if they have been placed on the waiting list.


Raising Roofs LLP (“Partnership”) is responsible for the delivery of the Raising Roofs™ programme.

The Partnership is insured for public and employers’ liability, and professional indemnity.
